Green Flight Academy, a flight school established in 2021 that conducts flight training with a modern aircraft fleet, is partnering with Zeroavia, Braathens Regional Airlines, Skellefteå kraft, and Skellefteå Airport to explore the possibility of implementing ZeroAvia’s hydrogen-based powertrain for commercial aviation in the region.
Together, the collaboration aims to establish a system demonstrator at Skellefteå Airport, conducting test flights to showcase the complete value chain of hydrogen-powered aviation. The project encompasses green hydrogen production, hydrogen distribution and handling at the airport, aircraft fueling, flights to a nearby airport, provision and education of pilots and maintenance.
The objective is to identify potential challenges and opportunities associated with the introduction of hydrogen-powered flights, contributing to the understanding of this innovative approach in aviation. This project is a source of pride for Green Flight Academy, representing a significant and one-of-a-kind initiative to further advance the green transition in the aviation industry.
