US Aviation Academy Opens FAA-Certified A&P Mechanic Training Campus in San Marcos, Texas
United States – based US Aviation Academy (USAA), one of the largest aviation and pilot training organizations in North America, has inaugurated its new Aircraft Mechanic Training Campus at San Marcos Regional Airport, expanding its FAA Part 147-certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic training offerings to the Austin–San Antonio corridor. The facility aims to address the growing demand for certified aviation maintenance technicians in the region.
- The San Marcos campus offers two FAA-approved A&P training tracks: an 8-month accelerated day program and a 16-month part-time night program.
- Students receive hands-on training on live aircraft, including jets, and are provided with all necessary tools and digital learning materials.
- The program prepares students for FAA certification exams, facilitating direct entry into the aviation maintenance workforce.
- Tuition is approximately $36,000, inclusive of tools, exam fees, and digital resources, positioning it as a cost-effective option compared to other programs.
- The academy has established hiring partnerships with airlines such as Envoy Air, American Airlines, and Endeavor Air, enhancing job placement opportunities for graduates.
- The San Marcos campus is the only FAA Part 147-certified A&P school in the Austin area, addressing a regional shortage of qualified aircraft mechanics.
