US Non-Profit Flight School Hosts Fundraising Activity for Pilot Program
United States based Aspen Flight Academy (AFA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit flight training organization giving students the opportunity to become certified pilots, recently concluded its annual fundraising activity at the Atlantic Aviation FBO at Aspen-Pitkin County Airport in Colorad for its “Every Student Flies” program. AFA has secured thousands of dollars that will directly go into the flight training costs of each student.
According to AFA, Atlantic Aviation is one of the sponsors providing complimentary fuel and announced a $100,000 scholarship program for five students to obtain their private pilot certification. On the other hand, Mayo Aviation awarded a $20,000 university scholarship, distributed over four years, to a student in the program to pursue a career in professional aviation.
The “Every Student Flies” innovative program introduces every Aspen High School Student to the world of aviation careers, beginning with an introductory flight with a Certified Flight Instructor in a Diamond DA40 aircraft.
After each flight, students will be given a tour of the Aspen Airport’s FAA Control Tower and two onsite companies, West Star Aviation and Atlantic Aviation.
Each student will be provided with a “takeaway” package full of information about aviation careers, college programs, flight training opportunities, and student scholarships.
