US State Legislators Block Proposal of Closing the Military Pilot Training Center
The Biden Administration plans, as indicated in the proposed fiscal budget for 2023, to close the Air National Guard pilot training center in Georgia to which the bipartisan Georgia legislators blocked by requesting the Congress to reject the proposal.
The proposed fiscal budget will eliminate funding to the Air Dominance Center at the Savannah Air National Guard Base, which conducts Air-to-Air Combat Training Missions for 4th and 5th generation fighters for the Air National Guard, active duty Air Force and the Navy and Marine Corps.
“As members of Congress, we recognize that budgets have limits and hard decisions must be made to protect our country’s bottom line. But our military’s capacity to conduct realistic, live training sets us apart from our adversaries. We can see from Russia’s tactical incompetency in Ukraine how disastrous it can be if a nation does not properly prepare its warfighters. That is exactly why the Savannah CRTC must remain open,” said five Congressmen led by Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock thru a letter to the House Committee that oversees budget matters.
