SolitAir and IAA Launch Pilot Mentorship Program to Strengthen UAE Training Pipeline

United Arab Emiratesa – SolitAir, a cargo operator based at Dubai World Central (DWC), and flight training group Intercontinental Aviation Academy (IAA), part of the Intercontinental Aviation Enterprise group, have signed a strategic agreement to launch the SolitAir Mentor Programme—a structured, airline-aligned cadet development pathway aimed at producing airline-ready pilots.

  • The mentorship programme will integrate with IAA’s EASA and GCAA ICAO ATPL integrated training curriculum, offering selected cadets personalised mentorship from SolitAir professionals throughout their training.

  • SolitAir will select candidates from current and upcoming IAA cadet intakes (September 2025 and January 2026), monitoring performance at key milestones including ATPL ground school and flight training phases.

  • Top-performing cadets may be invited to undertake advanced airline-specific development, including simulator support, base training, and type-rating opportunities through IAA’s training partners.

  • SolitAir will also introduce workshops on airline operations, safety culture, crew resource management (CRM), and emerging aviation technologies, reinforcing operational readiness.

  • Graduating cadets will undergo a joint assessment by both organisations, and eligible candidates may be considered for employment at SolitAir.

  • Cadets enrolled in the initiative will wear a SolitAir badge on their uniforms as a symbol of the mentorship commitment throughout their training.

Statements

  • “SolitAir has always believed that the future of our airline begins with the people we invest in today. This partnership with IAA is more than a mentorship programme – it is a strategic step toward building a new generation of pilots aligned with our values, operational standards and long-term vision. By engaging cadets early, guiding their development and sharing real airline insights, we are shaping talent ready not just to fly, but to thrive in a rapidly evolving aviation industry.” – Hamdi Osman, Founder & CEO, SolitAir

  • “This partnership reflects a shared commitment to shaping aviation’s future through quality mentorship and airline-driven training pathways from the ground school.” – Capt. Wissam Al Mehyou, CEO of Intercontinental Aviation Enterprise and Chairman of IAA Global

European Flight Training Group FTEJerez Raises Aviation Safety Concerns Over Proposed Solar Farm Near UK Base

United Kingdom – FTEJerez, a Spain-headquartered flight training group which recently launched UK base, has formally opposed the development of one of Europe’s largest proposed solar farms, citing serious safety concerns for pilot training operations conducted from London Oxford Airport.

  • The Botley West Solar Farm, proposed by Photovolt Development Partners (PVDP), is designed to generate 840 megawatts of renewable electricity, supplying approximately 330,000 homes.

  • FTEJerez, which operates its UK flight training from London Oxford Airport, submitted formal objections to the Planning Inspectorate during the project’s public examination phase.

  • The flight school expressed alarm over several risks posed to trainee pilots, including:

    • Limited emergency landing options due to the extensive solar panel coverage and perimeter fencing.

    • Glint and glare from panels potentially interfering with pilot visibility.

    • Bird displacement affecting aircraft flight paths.

  • FTEJerez emphasized the suitability of the current Oxfordshire airspace for flight training and the potential negative impact of the development on aviation safety standards.

  • In contrast, PVDP stated that consultations with Oxford Airport and relevant authorities confirm that the project poses no aviation hazard. As a precaution, they have revised panel placement near runway zones.

  • A final decision by the Secretary of State on the project is expected in spring 2026.

Statements

  • “We have selected London Oxford Airport as our UK training base to conduct the elements of training required by the UK Civil Aviation Authority for students working toward a UK Commercial Pilot Licence. This location has been chosen due to its strong safety record, high-quality facilities, and the suitability of the surrounding airspace and environment for pilot training. We are alarmed by the serious flight safety hazards posed by the proposed Botley West development, particularly the fate of any trainee pilots having to make emergency landings onto acres of solar panels, surrounded by high security fencing.” – FTEJerez said in a letter to the Planning Inspectorate

  • “Oxford Airport has confirmed that the project poses no threat to aviation in the area. As set out clearly in the Statement of Common Ground submitted to the Planning Inspectorate, which is publicly available, we have liaised extensively and constructively with Oxford Airport and relevant aviation authorities to ensure there are no adverse effects.” – PVDP spokesperson

Quantum3D and NORXE Announce Advanced 8K/240Hz Projection Integration for Next-Generation Simulation at I/ITSEC 2025

USA – Quantum3D, a leader developer of real-time visual simulation technologies, and Norxe AS, a premier manufacturer of high-performance simulation projectors, are pleased to announce a new integrated capability that significantly elevates the performance and realism of advanced training and simulation systems.

Quantum3D’s MANTIS® Image Generator software now provides full native support for Norxe’s P55 and P60 projectors, enabling 8K resolution output at 240Hz through Norxe’s 4-way n-shift technology. This enhancement allows four 4K @60Hz Mantis channels to drive a single projector, delivering unmatched image clarity and eliminating motion blur or double-imaging artifacts. Together, Quantum3D technology and Norxe technology are pushing the boundaries of visual simulation systems, setting a new benchmark for fidelity and performance.

MANTIS® offers multiple 240Hz processing modes—including interpolation for maximum accuracy, extrapolation for reduced latency, and a hybrid mode that balances both—ensuring optimal performance even when the simulation host operates at a traditional 60Hz.

The integration also includes full support for Norxe’s optional dedicated IR channel, enabling true NVG stimulation. Users can dynamically switch between 120Hz NVG operation and 240Hz daylight modes for seamless training across environments.

Quantum3D’s MANTIS® and Independence® IDX image generator family power simulators worldwide for defense, aerospace, commercial aviation, UAS/UAM/eVTOL, and space programs. The new Norxe integration is available to new and existing MANTIS® and/or other IG customers; upgrade guidance and validation support are provided.
