airBaltic, the flag carrier of Latvia, announced that 20 graduates of the airBaltic Pilot Academy joined the company as First Officers in 2023. During the same year, seven new Airbus A220-300 aircraft joined the fleet of the airline.
airBaltic also signed a significant contract for 30 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with purchase rights for additional 20. According to Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, this purchase aligns with the goal of operating a fleet of 100 such aircraft by 2030.
Currently, the airBaltic fleet consists of 46 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, making it one of the youngest fleets in Europe. The airline also owns and operates its own flight school and full flight simulator training center.
