UK-Headquartered Pilot Training Group Leading Edge Aviation Celebrates Over 100 Students Tagged in 2024 for Future First Officer Roles

United Kingdom – Leading Edge Aviation has achieved a major milestone in its pilot training programs, with over 100 students receiving conditional job offers from major UK airlines this year. This success highlights the academy’s ability to connect trainees with employment opportunities, with more than a quarter of its current students already ‘tagged’ for future First Officer roles.

  • Conditional job offers, or ‘tagging,’ ensure students are preselected for airline positions contingent upon meeting training and licensing requirements.
  • Airlines such as easyJet, Wizz Air, Titan Airways, and British Airways have partnered with Leading Edge Aviation to address the post-COVID pilot shortage.
  • easyJet extended offers to 52 students, the highest number from any single airline partnership this year, with more assessment days scheduled.
  • British Airways has incorporated Leading Edge students into its Self-Sponsored Pathway (SSP), while Wizz Air continues to invest in developing young aviation talent.
  • The growing trend of student tagging reflects the industry’s response to workforce gaps, offering prospective pilots greater confidence in their career prospects.

n June 2024 Cebu Pacific (CEB), the fast growing Philippines based low-cost carrier operating over 80 aircraft, announced that it was partnering with Philippines based flight training organisation Airworks Aviation for its Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program. The program is currently the only airline in the country offering this program, giving aspiring pilots high-quality training experience, mentorship, and guaranteed employment path with the airline. Over a five-year period, CEB will deploy a total of 240–300 Cadet Pilots to Airworks.

The 96 week program will see aspiring pilots get their Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating as well as a type rating on either Airbus A320 or ATR72-600.
