Global Flight Training Group Airways Aviation Launches 2025 Edition of Women Aviators Scholarship in Australia

Australia – Airways Aviation, one of the largest aviation and pilot training group’s in the world operating pilot training academies across Europe, the Middle East, Asia/Australia, India and Africa, has launched the NextGen Women Aviators Scholarship to support aspiring female pilots through early-stage flight training at its Australian campuses.

  • The scholarship initiative is open exclusively to female candidates with less than 50 hours of flight time.
  • Three scholarships will be awarded for use toward trial flights, training flights, or private aircraft hire (for licence holders).
  • Applications are available only for training at Airways Aviation’s Gold Coast or Archerfield campuses.
  • The application deadline is June 23, 2025.

Singapore – Boeing has announced the appointment of Zaid Alami as Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific & Oceania, leading Customer Support for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Massey University Aviation Chief Appointed as Independent Reviewer Under NZ Civil Aviation Act

New Zealand – Ashok Poduval, Chief Executive of the Te Kura Rererangi School of Aviation at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University, has been appointed as one of three independent reviewers under New Zealand’s newly enacted Civil Aviation Act.

  • The Civil Aviation Act, effective from 5 April 2025, introduces an independent review function to provide aviation sector participants with a fair, efficient, and accessible alternative to court proceedings

  • Ashok Poduval was appointed by Acting Transport Minister Hon James Meager for a three-year term ending 31 March 2028

  • The function is aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability within New Zealand’s aviation regulatory framework by allowing participants to challenge decisions—such as licence suspensions or cancellations—without incurring legal costs

  • Poduval has led Massey University’s School of Aviation since 2005 and recently stepped down as President of the Aviation Industry Association to focus on this new responsibility
