Professional Aviation Academy is excited to announce that the first group of 15 students from Norway’s Pilot Flight Academy has arrived in Italy to complete a crucial part of their ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) course.
In September Pilot Flight Academy and Professional Aviation Academy announced the new partnership starting in October 2024. Through this collaboration, Pilot Flight Academy students have the opportunity to conduct their Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flight training at Professional Aviation Academy’s state-of-the-art facilities in Italy.
This partnership offers students a unique opportunity to fly in diverse airspace and weather conditions, enhancing their training and better preparing them for international aviation careers. The Italian landscape, combined with Professional Aviation’s comprehensive training programs, provides the perfect environment for VFR training, adding significant value to the existing curriculum.

As part of its commitment to offering the highest standards in pilot training, AELO Swiss Academy is also investing €6 million in the expansion and modernization of its facilities at Locarno Airport. These new facilities, set to be completed in the second quarter of 2025, will support both the academy’s operations and the training needs of its students in a more efficient and integrated way.

Known for offering world-class pilot training, the academy prides itself on hiring some of the most experienced instructors in Europe: Two-thirds of the academy’s 38 flight instructors currently flying for major European airlines such as Ryanair, Swiss, Lufthansa, and others. Capua, Italy – Tecnam is pleased to announce the appointment of Pasquale De Rosa as Sales Manager for Europe. Pasquale brings with him over 15 years of extensive sales experience in a variety of industries.
Prior to joining Tecnam, Pasquale held a key position as Sales Executive with an EASA approved design organisation specialising in commercial aircraft transitions, conversions and cabin refurbishments. During his tenure, Pasquale helped expand the company’s market share in the aviation sector.
In 2022, Pasquale joined Tecnam as Marketing Manager where he successfully led marketing initiatives and strengthened the company’s presence in the General Aviation market.
As Sales Manager Europe, Pasquale will be responsible for overseeing regional sales operations and the European dealer network, building strategic partnerships and driving further market expansion across Europe.

ASTi will attend the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) Flight Simulation Conference on October 22–23, 2024 at the RAeS headquarters in London, United Kingdom. ASTi experts attending the conference will be Neil Waterman, Commercial Aviation Director; Max Scribner, AI Software Engineer; Dr. Jeremy Goodman, MRAeS; and Gary Pallett, Industry Consultant and former Royal Air Force navigator. All will be ready to discuss and demonstrate the latest in simulated air traffic control environment (SATCE) technology: ASTi‘s Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA).
Mr. Waterman will deliver a presentation titled, “Use of SATCE with AI Virtual Instructor for the Naval Aviation Training Command” during the “Use of AI and Data in Pilot Training” session at 11:35 a.m. on the 23rd. He is one of four presenters mentioning SATCE as an important emerging technology for pilot training.
ASTi will also host a portable SERA demonstration featuring an Airbus A320 desktop flight simulator. The demo’s multiple, real-time training scenarios will allow interested viewers to experience a full ATC radio comms and traffic environment geared specifically for commercial and military pilot training.

Interestingly, Mr. Waterman attended this same conference in 2006, where he first heard about the concept of developing an “automated ATC” tool for pilot training. That idea planted the SATCE seed in ASTi‘s collective conscience, grew into a concerted development effort, and has borne fruit as its successful SERA product.
