Alberta College of Aeronautics Signs Again with ALSIM for an AL42 Simulator

France & Canada – Alberta College of Aeronautics, based in Canada, renews its confidence in ALSIM in acquiring an AL42 simulator.

The AL42 is an exact replica of the Diamond DA42, built using genuine aircraft parts and equipped with the authentic Garmin™ G1000® Nxi. It also comes with the latest generation image generator (VFR-VS), GFC™ 700 autopilot, and a force feedback system that ensures increased realism. It can also be equipped with either analog or glass (EFIS) backup instruments.

The AL42 model is designed for CPL IR/ME and PPL training in compliance with current regulatory standards of EASA FNPT II (level).

Lawrence LAU, Alberta College of Aeronautics’s Accountable Executive, explains, “We have selected ALSIM for its flight simulation training solution for their robust and reliable flight training devices. The ALSIM ALX has proven an effective training platform for the iATPL diploma program and ACA is excited to add the AL42.

The AL42 is the perfect complement to the Diamond DA42 training aircraft and will advance the efficiency and effectiveness of the College’s Multi and IFR training programs.”

Souleymane SARRÉ, Sales Manager at ALSIM, adds: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Alberta College of Aeronautics, with the addition of a second ALSIM training device to their fleet. We look forward to seeing the AL42 in operation and increasing the efficiency of ACA’s training programs. We would like to thank Lawrence and his team for the renewed confidence in our solutions.

US Regional Airline Launches FAA-Approved VR Pilot Training Program in 2025

USA – Envoy Air, a regional airline headquartered in Texas, has enhanced its pilot training curriculum with the launch of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-approved Virtual Reality (VR) training program at its Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) training centre.

  • The new VR program is part of Envoy’s ongoing efforts to align its training with evolving FAA aviation standards and industry needs.

  • Pilots now use the VR software to conduct simulated preflight walkarounds and complete flight deck flows and checklist procedures—critical elements in safe aircraft operation.

  • According to Captain Allen Hill, Director of Flight Training at Envoy, “Our in-house training team has been working hard over the last year to introduce this VR software into our training program. We’re proud to say that not only have we received approval from the FAA to incorporate this into our program, but we are also the first U.S. airline to get this certification.”

  • The VR software enables trainees to identify and respond to potential issues in a controlled environment, significantly enhancing scenario-based learning without the need for aircraft downtime or physical damage.

  • While primarily designed for pilot training, the VR platform also benefits Envoy’s Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), providing virtual access to aircraft interiors and enhancing technical awareness and inspection readiness.

  • The system is housed in a designated classroom at Envoy Headquarters (EHQ), but is also accessible via personal devices, ensuring continued training flexibility for both pilots and mechanics outside the training centre.

About Envoy Air
Headquartered in Irving, Texas, Envoy Air is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group. The airline operates regional flights under the American Eagle brand and maintains its own in-house pilot and maintenance technician training programs.
