Middle East Low Cost Carrier’s Second Type Rating Scholarship Graduates Complete Training in 2025

Saudi Arabia – Saudi low-cost airline flyadeal has celebrated the graduation of its second group of cadet pilots under the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services’ new Waed scholarship program. The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to accelerate national talent development in the aviation sector.

  • The second cohort, similar to the first, consisted of 10 Saudi cadets who completed Airbus A320 type-rated ground and simulator training at Global Training Aviation (GTA) in Madrid, Spain.

  • The three-month training program is part of the Waed scholarship scheme launched in 2023 by the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services to boost local pilot recruitment and training.

  • The program culminated with time in the Airbus A350 Full Flight Simulator (FFS), offering a high-fidelity, realistic introduction to widebody airline flying.

  • The initiative forms part of Fiji Airways’ wider commitment to developing local aviation talent and supporting the national pilot pipeline.

  • Activities on the day were led by Capt Henry Stephen and First Officer Bryan Nair, with support from TSLS and AAT.
