Training Aircraft Manufacturer Announces New Aircraft Deployment and Partner In France

Czech based popular training aircraft manufacturer – Cruiser aircraft is proud to announce delivery of the very first PS-28N Cruiser to France.

The aircraft bearing registration number F-HPSA will serve as demo aircraft for Cruiser Aircraft newly appointed representative for the French market, company Finesse Max having its seat in Haguenau.

The aircraft was handed over by the French representative in Kunovice on 21st May 2022.

PS-28N Cruiser presents next in the line, the significantly improved version of well-established and popular PS-28 Cruiser aircraft. Beside others major upgrade is certification from EASA for VFR Day & Night operation. The instrumental panel is now fully glass where back-up analogue gauges are replaced by Garmin G5 unit. The flap position switch is replaced by a three positional flap lever providing even more safety and comfort for the pilot. From the cockpit we can also highlight the canopy guides providing precise fit of the movable canopy frame to fixed so no damage occurs anymore. PS-28N Cruiser also brings new reinforced main landing gear legs and modified engine cowlings providing even better cooling in hot temperatures.

During the delivery act Tomas Banczi, Chairman of the board of the Cruiser Aircraft. said “This delivery presents a new start on the French market. We have been always considering the French market as one of the most important for us. In the past we have delivered there overall 23 PS-28 Cruisers. With all the significant improvements made on the aircraft we firmly believe that the PS-28 Cruiser will soon become one of the most popular basic and advanced flight trainer. This delivery presents a new start. I would like to welcome Finesse Max on the Cruiser Air raft board. With their experience and enthusiasm we are looking forward for a long cooperation.”

Commenting on the PS-28N Cruiser delivery and partnership appointment, Mr.Christian Stuck, CEO of Finesse Max, said, “PS-28N Cruiser is without any doubt one of the best Light Sport Aircraft in the World. A total of over 680 PS-28 Cruiser and SportCruiser aircraft have been already produced. EASA type certified PS-28 Cruiser and PS-28N Cruiser successfully fulfils its role of training aircraft in more than 30 flight schools all around Europe.

European Training Aircraft Manufacturer Stops Production

In front of the prolonged impact of the Covid crisis, Sonaca Aircraft has decided to stop the production of S200 aircraft and to refocus on services and after-sales, with the support of Sonaca. Sonaca has committed to offer employment to all employees, whose expertise will be more than ever useful for the relaunch of the activities within the Group.

The Board of Directors of Sonaca gathered today and decided to stop financing the loss-making activities of its subsidiary Sonaca Aircraft. However, financing has been granted in order to fulfill all its obligations and to facilitate the continuity of essential activities for customers, i.e. services and after sales.

For Yves Delatte, CEO of Sonaca, “the cessation of Sonaca Aircraft’s production activities is a necessary decision. The Covid-19 pandemic, which will globally impact the aviation sector until 2025, has strongly affected general aviation, especially activities related to pilot training and education.” This has resulted in an order level well below the break-even point for Sonaca Aircraft.

During the last months, Sonaca has approached many strategic partners to help its subsidiary enter new market segments, unfortunately without reaching an agreement.

Following this decision, Sonaca has committed to offer all employees of the Temploux site the possibility to join one of the group’s entities in Belgium. “We have to focus all our strenghts on our expertise in aerostructure, where Sonaca aims to become world leader by 2025. The know-how of each Sonaca Aircraft employee will be a real asset to reach this goal” explains the CEO.

Created in 2016, Sonaca Aircraft is a subsidiary whose main mission is to develop, certify and market a training aircraft. The “Sonaca 200”, specially designed for training and leisure flights, will have been delivered 57 units since its creation.

Thirdly, it is an aircraft with a glass cockpit including the most advanced avionics system with Garmin G3X touch screen. This facilitates the transition into todays modern highly automatised airline aircraft.

Fourthly, it is one more piece of our standardized fleet, including all glass cockpit Tecnam aircraft, facilitating the progress through the training program.

Finally, it is an owned aircraft like all the fleet of our school, not rented. That does not make any difference from an education point of view, but reflects the solidity of the project, and for those in the industry that remind some school going bust leaving students stranded, it gives an additional trust factor to the students when choosing their school.”
