US Aviation Training Group International Aero Academy Hosts Pratt & Whitney for A&P School Visit and Recruitment

Lakeland, Florida, United States – International Aero Academy, which was established in 2017 initially focusing on accelerated pilot training but has since expanded to include aircraft maintenance technician training, on-demand charter services, and an in-house FAA Part 145 repair station, has shared that it hosted a visit from Pratt & Whitney to engage with students at its Aviation Maintenance Technician (A&P) school. The visit was part of Pratt & Whitney’s ongoing recruitment efforts, offering students the opportunity to connect directly with a major industry player.

  • IAA started with just 8 aircraft and now operates operates a fleet of 26 aircraft including Tecnam P2008, P2006T and Cessna 172 and 152 aircraft
  • Currently IAA has around 100 to 120 pilots in training at any one time
  • Training aspiring pilots from around the globe IAA has recently opened an office in India and is hoping to announce a flight training cadet program with an airline in the coming months
  • IAA provides a pathway to US low cost carrier Spirit Airlines – after reaching 500 flight hours, student pilots can apply to the airline with the possibility of receiving a conditional letter of employment upon reaching 1,500 hours.

The session focused on how students can leverage their training at Epic Flight Academy to earn college credits through a partnership with Purdue Global, enhancing their educational and career prospects.

In December 2023 United States based Purdue Global announced its educational partnership with Epic Flight Academy, which will connect students with the opportunity to pursue an online bachelor’s degree in aviation management or professional flight through the Purdue Global Aviation program. Participants in both programs can save up to $28,400 in tuition and complete the degree online in 2 to 3 years. They can work on their degree while they complete flight training or as they work as a full-time flight instructor.

Purdue Global — Purdue’s online university for working adults — offers a tradition of academic quality, flexibility through online training, hands-on experience in a specialized field, a generous transfer credit policy and personalized support.

US Based Non-Profit Awards 26 Flight Training Scholarships to Colorado Students in 2024

Denver, Colorado, United States – Wings Over the Rockies (“WINGS”) announced it has selected 26 Colorado high school students to receive the 2024 Wings’ Flight Training Scholarship. Students will receive up to a $12,000 scholarship—based on flight training experience to date—to be used toward flight training to achieve certification as a private pilot for single-engine airplanes.

The Ray Foundation provides funding for flight training scholarships, which WINGS distributes across Colorado each year to qualifying students age 15-19. To date, WINGS has awarded more than 150 scholarships totaling over $1.3 million since launching the program in 2019. The scholarship helps students seeking their  Private Pilot Certification in gliders or single engine airplanes. Scholarship applicants must be Colorado residents and complete their training through a Colorado business.

“We received more than 119 impressive applications for the scholarships. Our future is bright with the up and coming students who want to pursue a career in aviation,” said John L. Barry, Maj Gen, USAF (Ret), President and CEO of WINGS. “We hope to continue to expand this scholarship program in the future and are incredibly grateful to the The Ray Foundation for making this scholarship program available to Colorado’s future pilots.”

All applicants go through a rigorous evaluation and interview process conducted by representatives from WINGS, the Wings Captain Jeppesen Foundation and other partner organizations including Daedalian Flight 18, the Colorado Pilot’s Association and the Colorado Aviation Business Association (CABA). The committee conducted more than 50 interviews this year. Each scholarship recipient is assigned a mentor to guide them through the training process which includes both flight time and a thorough study regime in order to complete their pilot certification.
